Thanksgiving is almost here. I have been spending some time today planning my menu...which really changes very little these days. Before I had children I could be as adventurous as I pleased. But now there are certain things that must not change or the kids just do not feel like it is right. So I sneak a new side dish in and try a different pie....but the feast remains the same for the most part.
The cranberries are simply cooked...sugar and water... and a splash of Grand Marnier is added at the end of cooking for good measure. I love to watch them pop in the pot!
I can not wait! It is my favorite Holiday!I can almost smell that turkey roasting now...making the whole house smell so wonderful...and being thankful for those we love and all that we have!

The turkey looks great...Love the name of your blog!!!
ReplyDeleteMary...thank you so very much!
ReplyDeleteNow I have to figure out how to give this thoughtful gift to others!
You are so sweet....
What we do with some of the cranberries is to mix them with oranges sections or a small can of drained mandarin oranges,a can of crushed pineapple in its own juice(drained), some toasted chopped walnuts and a half of a peeled ,diced apple(optional)... I serve in a vintage cut glass footed bowl. Just delicious! The rest get served plain. You can even use canned cranberries with the other ingredients. Then just a little sploosh of the GM....that is my Mom's Cranberry relish...
Thanks so much Mari...this is very exciting!
Thank you Debbie....thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteLinda, that is one great-looking bird!! I love a table laden down with all the traditional dishes, along with one or two innovative ideas thrown in, too!! Your family is very fortunate to have such a talented cook in their kitchen - :=)
