Hello Dolly/Magic/Five Layer Bars...or whatever else you want to call them....

I did not grow up eating these, never heard of them until about 2 years ago. I tweaked a Paula Deen recipe and made these a while ago and I have to say they are very dangerous to have around. One of my kids waxes poetic about this cookie. I first tried making them after a friend brought them to my attention on a food board I belong to...and it has become an easy favorite to throw together when one of the kids needs to bring something somewhere...I absolutely CAN NOT HAVE THESE IN THE HOUSE...Or they will not be here long! These will be great to add to a holiday cookie assortment....
These are known by all of the names above and most likely many more. Nothing original here...but oh so good! When people taste these they are taken back to a simple time...they are reminded of Mom...or as one of my son's friends says...AWESOME! He gives me a huge thumbs up...what more could one want from a 15 year old?

Hello Dolly/ Magic/ Five Layer Bars

1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans (you can use walnuts instead)
1 cup Peanut Butter morsels( you can also use mini Reeses Peanut Butter cups or butterscotch morsels)
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels or bittersweet(I use 60% Ghirardelli Bittersweet chips)
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Toast the pecans in the 350* oven for about 8-10 minutes, watch carefully!!!!!Chop.
Combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press into bottom of a 9 by 9-inch baking dish lined with foil. Sprinkle remaining ingredients over crumb mixture. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the layers. Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool and cut into squares. They do not need to be that large...a little goes a long way here.
I like to put them in mini muffin papers...

Thanks Terrie for the Mini Reeses cup idea!

  5. I have heard of these, but I don't think I've ever eaten them before. They look delicious - it would be dangerous to have them in my house, too!

  7. Mmmmm, I love these! I made them for a party 5 or 6 years ago, and my friend dubbed them Jesus Bars, because "JESUS, they taste good!" hehehe! Jesus Bars they have been ever since.
